ok so it looks like you opted to not use the flash player for uploading?
(you perhaps are linux or the file was big or opted to not use flash?)

going that route, we don't currently automatically kick off a "derive"
unfortunately (i'm working on trying to find a fix for that).
so it didn't derive. however users can use the "Edit Item!" link
to eventually find the "change metadata" link to the "item manager"
to manually kick of a [derive] button task for now.

as to technical limits and such...
we've put up some good posting of tech details here
http://internetarchive.wordpress.com/tag/video/

and you can find how we encode our videos.
you might wanna try removing your derivative attempts and kicking
off the derive task and then follow that link to the rather detailed
log showing how we make each of the 4 kinds of derivatives and the
tools/steps involved, too.

hope that helps!

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I did not use the flash upload since I'm using Linux. So I've manually kicked off a derive and things seem to be progressing nicely.

Big plus, the task log includes the actual commands used to derive the files so I can see exactly what's going on. Love it!

Thanks again.
